The Pending Al Quaeda Trials

The pending Al Quaeda Trials in Manhattan have stirred up a lot of concern and buzz between the Lower Manhattan community and local politicians. The community's greatest concern seems to be safety and quality of life over all else.

Councilwoman Margaret Chin and former Councilman Alan J. Gerson are the only two politicians who vocally have objected, to date, to holding the trials Downtown, only blocks from the WTC site. “It is a mistake and it should be rectified,” says Mr. Gerson, and “It’s clear federal officials were not thinking about you (the community), in terms of the security risk and in terms of the logistics nightmare.” Since money will flow into NYC if the trials are held here, residents should begin compiling lists of conveniences for the communities.

Comptroller Bill Thompson places strong emphasis on Mayor Mike Bloomberg's "Third-Term-Limit" ruling that authorized him, and the Council, to run for another 4 years. This same issue though ran some very qualified Council Members out of office in the Primary race. Will Mayor Bloomberg's outcome be a favorable one?

Third Term Limits

Third-Term Limit has been a very hot topic.  There are pros and cons, however I believe the majority falls under the cons.  Many feel their democratic rights have been  usurped, tossed to the curb and spit out to dry.  "Where is the transparency?"  How can the person running for election change the rules for his/her own good?

However, we're in such a spiral financial downfall, who in his/her sane mind would want to tackle the issues we face?  Moreover, who is prepared to step in and resolve many of the fiscal woes of the communities, individuals and economic growth?
